Lesson September 29, 2006

— Monday September 25, 2006 by Admin

Here is a guide to reading Luke 4 for this week.

Let’s pray and ask God to prepare our hearts and minds for the instruction He has for us from Scriptures. After Luke listed the ancestors of Jesus in the end of chapter 3, chapter 4 starts out with the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness by the Devil. Then from Luke 4:14 onward, Luke writes of the ministry and message of Jesus, our Savior. We read of Jesus’s ministry in Galilee, how He was rejected in Nazareth, how He taught with great authority in Capernaum, and that He healed many. The healings and miracles that Jesus performed were not only to amaze us, but to show us that He is the Son of God.

What do you think God is teaching us from the passage on Jesus’s temptation?
What do we learn about Satan’s ways to deceive us?
How can we stand firm against the schemes of the Devil?

Memorize: “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God” — Deut. 8:3
